I accomplished a lot today. The binder of slides is officially done. I don't actually know who left it for me to scan, so I dropped it off in the archives. There's a list of where all the slides are on Drobo. I added metadata for the McLarty slides and the Spring Break slides, which I forgot to write on the sheet. There might have been more but I forgot. Basically if a slide had something written on it I added it in the metadata.
I finished scanning the 1952 Wallulah and am about halfway through editing it. That should be done tomorrow, assuming I make it to work on time.
After that's done, I'm going to go through the VMS collection and edit and organize and standardize the slides and the information that's in CONTENTdm.
I'm open for any other projects now, too.

The Idea
I can't get this Vernor Martin Sackett Collection out of my head. I want to do something with this, more research, curate a show of the photographs, something, anything.
I was looking up programs at Willamette and stumbled upon the Presidential Scholarship. It might be a reach, but what if I turned this collection into some sort of research project/senior thesis?
Thoughts? The deadline for the application in March 14.

The Update
Today I started with editing some Wallulah slides. I'm not sure when the next time I will get to the Wallulah is because of some other projects that are happening now.
First, the binder of slides. I got distracted today working on the Vernor Martin Sackett Collection, so I did not get to the binder of slide today. But I will focus the rest of my time this week on that. Mostly because I really want to work with the VMS collection again, which brings me to the the second project happening.
The VMS collection. Interesting thing I noticed: in just doing some research aka Googling, I'm pretty sure I found the official record for VMS in some sort of archive, but that has his name as Vernon with an "n" instead of an "r." I'm going to review and edit this collection. I've noticed some typos or maybe some misplaced descriptions/titles that I would really like to fix online. Sara has me set up on CONTENTdm again so I can do that. I think I'll move onto that after I finish the binder of slides.

The Power Outage
A few things Sara and I talked about today:
I'll be working here this summer!
The binder of slides is all scanned. The Glee slides are ready to go. I want to redo some of the McLarty slides. There are some from a Spring Break trip to the University of Washington in 1996 that I think should go in the Willamette Photo Collection.
I started working on the 1952 Wallulah today.
This week I will finish the binder of slides, and then I am open to new projects!

The Snow Days
I felt like my blog posts were getting pretty boring, so I decided to only post every few days. But then I forgot to write them, and now a week or so has gone by. Whoops.
Sean came in today and talked to me about this Wallulah project. Or some sort of digital scrapbook where we could record what's happening at Willamette. I think it's important and I hope it works out.
Other than that, I've just been scanning Wallulahs and the binder of slides. They're not all Glee slides. A lot of it has been art from Jack McLarty. That's been fun to look at.
