Today I continued to scan the Paulus Slides.  I saved them on Archives-Scans.  While scanning them I realized that they all for the most part are dark.  Is that normal for these slides? Just wanted to check that before I continue to scan the rest of them.

Day 11

Today I officially finished processing the commencement materials

I then started scanning/cropping the old catalogs (finished 1860-1872)

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Today I scanned the Fowler Paintings, I also continued to work on the Paulus slides.

Day 10

Today I finished OCR without verification for commencement materials from 2001-2012
All the commencement materials are now scanned and ready to be processed, which I'm planning to finish tomorrow
After that I'll start on the big catalog\bulletin project

I also scanned and OCR-ed the 2002 Paulus thesis
It's location is: Computer > moh > Archives-Scans > Paulus_Otto > Paulus Negatives Thesis

I'll be finishing 2001-2011 next week

Day 5

Today I finished scanning the Commencement materials for 1941 to 1946.
Then I started doing OCR with verification for 1860-1890 (because the fonts were not being nice to the program)
For 1891 to 1922 I did OCR without verification
Tomorrow I can finish 1922-1946

Friday, May 19, 2017

Day 4

Today I continued scanning old commencement programs. invitations, announcements, addresses, and church activity programs.
I picked back up at 1890 and finished 1940, which according to the spreadsheet is about 120 documents total, so I'm pretty proud.
I'm excited to finish these up on Monday (I have 1941 to 1946 remaining, then I assume OCR-ing them)
Exciting to keep working with 100+ year old documents

The finished ones are in the Processed folder

Day 2

Today I spent most of my time putting Student Handbook files organized by date through the ABBYY system, then placing them back in their dated files under "Processed"
While it was interesting in its own way, the handbooks did make me miss The Mill Stream publications from yesterday, which contained articles by students regarding social issues, music and movie reviews, and political discussions from 1977 and 1978.
I did enjoy how the student handbooks were set up. They contained warm welcome messages for freshman, basic rules of conduct, biographies and pictures of Deans and other administrators, and even a few different Willamette University songs.
I processed from the year 1892 to 1947.

Finally I did OCR with verification for the first 25 pages of the Alumni Directory
This is not finished, so the remaining pages (26- 90 something) are on a desktop file on the computer for me to complete tomorrow
The verification has actually done a really good job, and most of the mistakes so far are turning Ill. (like Illinois the state I assume) into 111, or Ia (Iowa maybe?) into la with a lowercase L
Very excited to start working on this again tomorrow!

Day 1

I scanned, cropped, and processed the folder of "The Mill Stream" publication from 1977
Very cool stuff
