Some updates:
There was a problem with one of the arms of the yet-to-be-named scanner. This is what Sara sent the service people at Atiz: When changing arms last week to scan a largish scrapbook, our
digitization student was unable to loosen one of the bolts. Upon
inspection the grommet had slipped into the shaft and thus when turning
the bolt she was turning the holding cup also - nothing to turn against!
(I hope that description makes sense.) We ended up having
facilities saw the bolt off. It is working fine having the arm attached
with 3 rather than 4 bolts, but we are cautious now when changing
arms.
So they will be sending us a new arm!
We have also been having some problems with the ABBYY software that we are using to read the Wallulahs and make them key word searchable. I've called customer service and haven't gotten any answers. They emailed me back once, but we're still having problems. I'm waiting for another reply and will update when an answer comes.
I'm still editing the Wilbur letters and matching with transcriptions. I can't tell if everything has been transcribed yet?
