Wallulahs:
I scanned and edited way too many Wallulahs for my own sanity this week. So I took a break from that yesterday and today and went back to the Wilbur letters. I'm at 1966 for scanning and 1960 for editing. I still have to Photoshop almost every page to fix the rotation of the page and the moire problems. But the whole process has gone a lot faster than it used to so it's not really a problem.
Did Atiz every send us the new arm that we needed on the scanner because of the screw issue?
Wilbur Collection:
Sara has filled me in on what sort of organizing needs to be done to get the Wilbur letters into CONTENTdm. I started working on that yesterday and today. It's tedious work, but it's another good step for me to check my work and make sure there aren't any mistakes. On Monday we should be able to put at least the first folder of letters online.
I was wondering where I should put the original text .doc, because it sounds like it shouldn't be in the Transcriptions folder where all the .txt pages are now, and right now that is the case.
ABBYY:
We finally got the license and the update today. I installed 4.0 and uninstalled 3.5. Everything seemed fine until I tried to open the Scanning Station, which is where we put the files that are fed to the Verification Station. But the Scanning Station wouldn't open. Instead I placed the files right into the Input folder, which does the same thing, and either method is fine, but I was frustrated that the Scanning Station wasn't opening. I did all the troubleshooting I could think of (checked to make sure all the programs are running and then restarted the computer) but it didn't work. Besides that, I ran through the entire program with the 1906 Wallulah and there were no other problems. I placed the next Wallulah into the input folder and let the Circulation Desk people know that they can try to use the program again. I was thinking though that we might have to update the software on that computer, because it's still running 3.5, but I'm not sure. The saga continues.
