March 4

I went home over the weekend and was reading a copy of the Willamette Scene, the alumni magazine, when I saw a photo that I had just entered into the archiving process. It was a really great find because I had no identifies on it. I also had mistakenly labeled it as a May Day Celebration, when in reality it was a photo from Willamette's first military ball. It was a super cool find. I'm thinking that we should start submitting photos from the campus photos collection that we haven't been able to identify to the Willamette Scene to see if we can get some names or dates on photos.

Today I finished Box 18. Now I just have to start inputting the photos into CONTENTdm.

  1. Prompted by your discovery, Mary and I chatted yesterday with the Scene editor and campus photographer. They indeed do scan many things, some of which were later transferred to us in the original print, which is what we think happened with the photo you spotted. We talked about duplication of efforts and how to better communicate and share data. And, as you suggested, we now have a place to put photos for potential inclusion in the Scene. I'll send you a login for that.
