31 May

This blog is coming a day late, but I still remember what I did!!

Yesterday morning, I finished scanning the 1905 Wallulah and then
retrieved the 1906-07 Wallulah from the archives, with Mary's help,
and scanned the cover page.

In the afternoon, I continued cross-referencing the Paulus digital and
original collections to make sure that they match. I am now halfway
through the second box of slides and I've only run across one problem,
where a slide had not been scanned because it was a duplicate of
PLS90A009. It made sense not to copy an exact duplicate, so I left it
alone. Later on, I found it interesting that the slides, which were
previously all of the same size, were all suddenly of a different
size. About 75% of the second box, in fact, are all on smaller glass
slides. I believe that these most likely came from a different camera,
and then I remembered that Robert and Otto Paulus did not own the same
style of camera, according to Ted Paulus. With a little research, I
may be able to find out which camera, and photographer, made the
smaller slides.

  1. If you can determine with certainty which photographer and camera made the smaller slides, please include that info on the metadata spreadsheet. If you can't determine this with absolute certainty, then it's best to leave that info otu.
